Bathroom overhaul!

The hubs had to unclog our sink and while he was doing that the contents of pretty much every cabinet came spilling out into the floor.

Yikes!

So before we stuffed everything back in there, I knew I had to come up with a better organization scheme!

So after some time spent thinking (I looked a lot like Sheldon and Raj "working"), I figured out all the categories I needed as well as how many bins and boxes.

Looking around my house I found some extra storage containers (Tupperware style) and some old baby wipes containers that I was holding on to for just a time as this! So here's what I ended up with:

I used the baby wipes containers for small stuff that needed a place to live. Pain relief, vitamins and supplements, kid's meds, ointments and creams and cough and cold are the categories here.

I am IN LOVE with these small drawer organizers from Walmart. They fill up the drawers fully so there is no room for junk to pile up! Every container is labeled so everyone knows where to put stuff. So nice!

I used some other containers for the other cabinets as well. Everything is organized! Yippee! Hopefully it'll stay that way!

My Organization Journey

I have realized something: I get WAY overwhelmed as a mother and household planner. It doesn't make me happy, or anyone else for that matter, when I get overwhelmed, because when I'm overwhelmed I get snippy.

I know, you're shocked. Me? Get snippy?

Anyway, I know this isn't good for me or my family.

So I've decided to make a change. When I realize that something is broken, I like to fix it. The way I run my house...my life really; is broken.

So it's time for a change!

This summer is going to be the summer I get my life and my house in order.

Maddie starts kindergarten in the fall; I take on a full course load at BHSE; Scott starts going to school 3 days a week; and we are going to put our house on the market.

Needless to say, this fall is going to be crazy beyond belief. I have to get myself and my life in order before that.

So I'm going to start blogging about my organizational finds, the projects I'm doing, and probably healthy and whole food lifestyle living while I'm at it. You wanna come along? I would love to have you guys comment on stuff you like, stuff you see that I could improve, or give me your own ideas!

Maddie-ism's

Maddie strolls her baby into the kitchen.

"Oh Maddie! Did you have a baby?"

"Yes, her name is Abby."

"That's a beautiful name."

"Yeah, you spell it A-L-N-O."

"Well, that doesn't spell Abby. That spells Alno."

"Oh. Well her name is Alno."

"That's a very unique name."

"Yeah. People at church didn't like it. But the policemen did."

Uncle Shane let Maddie join him while he played Xbox. When Maddie messed up she would say "lame" with much disdain.

I gave Maddie a popsicle, but when I handed it to her she almost dropped it; jostling it back and forth between her hands until she gained control of it. She laughed and said, "Well. That was dramatic."

Stuff Parents Say

So in light of the wildly popular YouTube trend right now all about stuff people do or do not say, I got to thinking about the stuff I say as a parent. Stuff I never thought I would have to say, or at least say with SUCH regularity:

"Don't hit him in the head with your chicken nugget."

"Stop eating chalk."

"Don't climb on that." (This is said in many different ways. Don't climb/jump/karate kick/stand/cartwheel on that.)

"Get that out of your mouth."

"What are you eating?"

"What just happened?"

"Did you push him?"

"Stop chewing on that!"

"Get off the dog."

"Let go of her."

"Don't lick that."

"Get your mouth of that!"

What are your Stuff Parents Say? Comment below and let me know!

Small Victories

"Be thankful for your small victories; they may be all that you have."
Claire Gutmann

As a parent of small children, life is just living from one small victory to the next. If you look at the big picture it can be very overwhelming. Raising children to become God-fearing, respectful, empathic adults while trying not to scar them for life is daunting at best. However, if you live by the moment (while trying to live in the moment) life becomes much more manageable.

One small victory today was realizing that both my children were old enough that I can actually close the bathroom for the 30 seconds it takes me to pee and almost always they are still alive when I get out. Seems silly for those of you without children. Those of you that have children...well I can see you out there nodding your heads in empathetic agreement.

So if you have small kiddos, remember to take it moment by moment. Because those moments and small victories will eventually add up to a full life with your amazing kids. Right?
